Midnight Star Media Production’s debut movie Living Corpses is out on the market with 180 copies so far sold in the first week.

Written by veteran playwright Roy Sagonja, famous for authoring several plays for MBC’s Nzeru Nkupangwa programme since the late 80s, Living Corpses tackles cultural issues such as the negative impact of chokolo.

This is Sagonja’s first movie on top of a number of books that he has authored.

“The movie was released in early November and since we started selling it, 180 copies have been sold. We have discussed with several selected outlets that they should be selling it on our behalf.

“And these places include Grey Matter Bookshop, OG Issa, Sana Cash and Carry, Crossroads Filling Station in Lilongwe while in Blantyre people can get the copies from Lord’s Best Collection at Chichiri Shopping Mall,” said the production’s spokesperson and main actor Branzio Kanyong’o.

The movie also features Watson Carter Ching’amba, Pilirani Banda, Hendrix Mwale, Nicole Themba and Christopher Mukendo from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Living Corpses was directed by Sagonja.

Meanwhile, another movie from the film-making company is in the offing.

“At the end of this month we will start working on another production titled Blood Money which is also written by Sagonja. This is a movie that brings to light the hidden issue of Satanism in Malawi. It is a story of a rich man who believes in satanism,” explained Kanyong’o.
